Congratulations to the 2021 recipients of the SHMS Grace Award: Will Davis and Jackson Kempf. This award is presented in honor of 2017 SHMS graduate Chioma Obi, who passed away during her freshman year in high school.
Mrs. Snyder, along with some of Chioma's classmates, created an award to be presented to a Level 6 student who embodies the love, faith, and grace that Chioma shared during her time at SHMS. Teachers and Chioma's friends wore yellow ribbons in her honor; she loved the color yellow and will be remembered as a ray of sunshine in all the lives she touched. Chioma would have been getting ready to graduate high school this year, but her classmates Kara Adams, Clarissa Worthington, and Lucy Rue, all seniors at Sacred Heart Academy, joined SHMS today to present this award to Will and Jackson.
Additionally, the 2020 recipients, Lily Kempf and Evangeline Montoya, were given their official plaque since the awards ceremony was virtual last spring. Current Level 8 student Annelise Buecker, the 2019 Grace Award recipient, remarked on how meaningful this award has been to her over the past two years.
Congratulations to Will and Jackson, Lily and Evangeline, on this honor, and continue living your life with love, faith, and grace.
