The Elizabeth Campbell Moir '07 Outdoor Playspace

Last night, Sacred Heart Schools leadership, SHP teachers and administrators, generous donors, Campbell and Moir family members, and current parents gathered in the new outdoor play space as it was dedicated to Elizabeth Campbell Moir '07. Sister Jean Anne Zappa prayed over the space, and she and Dr. McNay blessed it with holy water. After Dr. McNay, Austin Nikolich, and Elizabeth’s daughters unveiled the name of the play space, SHS Board of Trustees president Dr. Mary Ashlock led all in attendance in a heartfelt toast.

Campbell and Moir families

Elizabeth was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to so many, especially those in attendance last night. She attended SHMS and Holy Spirit and was a 2007 graduate of SHA and an All-State basketball player under future mother-in-law Coach Donna Moir. Her vibrant spirit, joy, and zest for life, which all shine beautifully through her daughters Campbell and Eleanor, will also shine here for years to come as children find their own joy and excitement in this play space.

Name unveilingEarly childhood education is the foundation for all learning that comes after, and free play is essential to every student’s future success. This new space is more than a playground – it is an outdoor classroom where our young learners will develop and thrive. This was evident as the children walked through the gate and ran immediately to the natural elements – the metal play structures were an afterthought.

Sacred Heart Preschool and all who will benefit from this play space are so grateful to those who made this first phase of design and construction possible.
