Willkommen! Bienvenido! Sacred Heart Model School's first annual International Day was a resounding success! In March, parents and special guests hosted a visual and culinary extravaganza and trip through the world, celebrating cultural diversity and global education.
The SHMS gymnasium was transformed into a feast of dance, food, culture, and learning for students, parents, teachers, and visitors as they celebrated International Day, representing 27 countries from around the world. At the time, Sacred Heart Academy was hosting several exchange students from St. Ursula School in Hachinohe, Japan for a two-week cultural immersion visit and our special guests enjoyed visiting the Model School for the International Day fair also.
Food trucks from Bellissimo and Con Aji Y Cafe and homemade treats tempted guests, and special performances were showcased from Bourbon Tango, Hui Kaululehua, the Academy of Flamenco Arts, Cardinal Bhangra, Orgullo Tapatio, and Filipino Tinkling Dance. Sacred Heart School for the Arts dance students from Flamenco and Bollywood classes also took the stage.
Special thanks to our event chairs who brought this grand vision to life--Angela Becerra, Emily Karem, and Lauren Creecy--and to our dedicated planning committee of parents who gave 110%: Akure Paradis, Ashley Beddingfield, Brooke Wachtel, Jordan Douglas, Julie Hohmann, Karen Alladin, Patrick Gitli, Lara Tjin A Tam, Lindsey Birnsteel, Lyna Rutherford, Mally Wunderlich, Rommy Altamarino, Tatianne Cavallazzi, and Elizabeth Hahn. Students and parents enjoyed exploring the many cultures in our wonderful world, and we are already looking forward to planning the event again next year. Thanks to all who helped educate our students to become globally minded, compassionate leaders!
