Welcome to Sacred Heart Model School! We hope our website provides the information you are seeking about our vibrant school community, our outstanding academic tradition, and the spirit of St. Angela Merici which one finds when they walk through our doors.

SHMS was originally named for its innovative approach as a model teaching environment utilized by students at Ursuline College. Aspiring educators and grade school students alike benefited from an approach that combined the latest in teaching pedagogy with the creative flexibility to determine our own best practices. This tradition of trailblazing, dating back to 1924, has continued in the decades since, perhaps most notably when SHMS became the first International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme in the state of Kentucky.  Simply put, SHMS is still The Model in education in our community. 

SHMS continues to earn its reputation for academic excellence, while serving the spiritual, developmental, emotional, and social needs of all students entrusted to our care. Teachers and staff nurture the talents and gifts of each child in order to develop a comprehensive program for children from our aspiring Primary Years Programme (PYP) to our Middle Years Programme (MYP).
